Wednesday was another productive day for seeing people on the Siggraph exhibit floor.  It's a very good chance to see people from the other continents of the world with whom I normally only have e-mail contact.

I won't go into much detail on 3ds Max 9, because others will cover it in more detail elsewhere, but I do like one of the new Design materials that have been added which offers, among other things, controls to enhance the ease of creating “fogged”, or milky glass.

New presets for Mental Ray also seem to allow a much better starting point for the initial render to minimize the amount of tweaking necessary to learn to use it.

I'm not finding Boston to be a particularly good breakfast town.  When I'm traveling, which is often, my most important meal is a good breakfast and if you've been up on my web site www.tbmax.com you'll notice that I have a page of photographs of traditional diners.  I found one here called the South Street Diner, but during the week it's only open from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m., just the opposite hours of most diners.
