The last day of Siggraph was a bit less crowded, as is expected given the late nights and hectic days, but it was a good crowd and I got to see a few more people that I hadn't seen earlier. Most people I've talked to seem to have enjoyed the show and they've enjoyed Boston even though the new convention center is pretty much isolated from downtown.
This section of South Boston was once a bustling leather industry area and fish processing and distribution section of town. Most of that industry has been displaced by the tunnel project and office and luxury condo projects, so all of the small restaurants, bars, and businesses that were here in the 70s have been torn down. No doubt something will replace them eventually, but is just as likely to be the national chain restaurants and businesses making the area look like any other convention area.
I'm still in town until Sunday for some work for Autodesk before I head home to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. I'll be posting some more Max tips when I get back into my office.
Unfortunately, I'm not going to make it to the www.cgarchitect.com event that's being held today. Best of luck to Jeff Mottle and his crew for what sounds like an informative and fun day.
