And in AutoCAD, larger maps are very hard on memory comsumption...is there the same problem in VIZ?<< Hi Iris, Yes, those problems will still exist in VIZ, be especially careful of scanned images as they can be very large. Sometimes a Blend material can be used (not available in VIZ any more, I don't believe) can be used in Max to "blend" or mask two variations of the same material, perhaps one is slightly darker for example, to hide some of the small imperfections. For fabrics on furniture, there is also an Unwrap UVW Modifier that makes it much easier to match and scale patterns on a variety of surfaces.
